About the Chef

Chef Victor was born in Murtosa in mainland Portugal. He began his
passion for cooking at New Bedford Regional High School where he met his
wife Deanna, who also shares the love of food. In his early 20's, Chef
Victor decided to leave New England and open his doors to the culinary
world by traveling to Florida. Florida is where he dipped his hands
into Southern styles of cooking and began learning as much as possible.
More opportunities arose for him, including an opportunity to work in
Barbados and the West Indies with a Floridian culinary company. There,
he focused on using the freshest ingredients, including the best local
seafood and produce. This is the main focus of Fresca Grill. Fresca in
a few different languages is translated into the word fresh. Victor
believes in using only the freshest ingredients; they are the core of
his creations.
In Chef Victor's late 20's he traveled back to Florida to cook at an
Italian restaurant called Ammici's on Palm Beach. At Ammici's, he
expanded his culinary repertoire by acquiring an Italian style of
cooking. While working at Ammici's, the co-owners offered Victor the
opportunity to open a restaurant called Savannah's in South Hampton, New
York. He took the once in a lifetime opportunity, and began yet another
culinary adventure. At Savannah's he focused and succeeded on creating
a five star atmosphere.
Victor spent the next two and a half years working in New York before
moving to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He traveled and learned as much as
possible, which was the key to his success. He decided to return home
to New England, taking the position of executive chef at the Radisson
Hotels in Cambridge and Plymouth and then onto the Sheraton for another
culinary experience. Chef Victor was offered yet another valuable
chance to express his love for food. He was given the opportunity to
open a small restaurant in Westport, Massachusetts.
Chef Victor and his wife Deanna operated Ellie's Place in Westport for
the past 7 years. Ellie's Place was maintained through sheer
determination making sure every guest was delighted and their bellies
were satisfied. Chef Victor is noted for always bringing more than just
amazing food to the plate. His presentations are marvelous and Deanna
makes sure the guests feel like they're home.
After 7 years, it was finally time to move onto a bigger restaurant;
they found themselves here at Fresca Grill. Creating a beautiful
atmosphere and sharing the love of food with valued guests like you.
Whether it be from the turf, surf or sky
our dishes are created according to what is fresh
from our local markets.
We work with the farmer and fisherman to obtain their treasures.
